In the last post I wrote this week, I mentioned that my mom taught me to read a chapter in the book of Proverbs everyday when I was in Third Grade. \u00a0 \u00a0With 31 chapters that works nicely to blow through the book each month.<\/p>\n
Some of these words of wisdom were easy for a young girl, pre-teen, teen, and young woman to understand. \u00a0But within the proper context? \u00a0Oh no. \u00a0I grew up in the 1970’s and ’80’s in small town Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
Passages like,\u00a0A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest–<\/a>\u00a0that gets repeated 8 chapters later in\u00a0Proverbs chapter 24<\/a>\u00a0came in handy growing up. \u00a0I distinctly remember laying down for a nap after school and not being able to fall asleep because these words were playing in my head. \u00a0I got up and completed my home work. \u00a0But then words like\u00a0a quarrelsome wife<\/a>\u00a0disturbed me because that pretty much describe the very woman who taught me to read this book.<\/p>\n To add to this confusion I read the\u00a0epilogue of the excellent wife<\/a>\u00a0with the context of my TV experience of watching\u00a0Bewitched<\/a>,\u00a0I Dream of Jeannie,\u00a0The Bionic Woman in addition to\u00a0Wonder Woman sponsored by the Enjoli commercials.<\/a><\/p>\n
